5 Best Places to Motorhome Camp in the U.K.

It’s becoming all too common to renovate an old van or bus or motorhome and take it on the open road. It’s like the tiny house revolution…on wheels. It’s a great way to tour solo, or with friends and family. And while the great American road trip might be something on many of our bucket lists, it’s not an exclusively American thing to do.

Here are five of the best places to park while road tripping in Europe.

Lower Micklin Touring Park, Denstone, Staffordshire

This is the best place to park your ride for a few nights while you tour the nearby sites in the U.K. It has 15 pitches with electric hook-ups, family bathrooms with clean showers and toilets, and a great view from the hilltop.

Wing Hall, Wing, Rutland

This location is quite close to a water sports facility called Rutland Water and has beautiful grounds where many families are happy to call home. It has 25 miles of cycle routes created by Anglian Water, for the cycling aficionados out there . The place is nearby to Oakam and Stamford.

Treveague Farm, St. Austell, Cornwall

Located in UK’s south-west peninsula, this location is popular for families to trip. If you’re traveling by motorhome, then you’ll definitely want to stay at the most beautiful location giving you a relaxing view of sea. You can even check out the coastal footpath that will lead you to the picturesque fishing village!

Beechwood Grange Caravan Club Site, York

This north-east located historic city offers a fabulous view and is the best family picnic location. You can check out the nearby National Railway Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre and few others.

Setley Ridge Vineyard, Hampshire

This is the most beautiful location to carry the motorhome and set up the camp for a lengthy stay. Located in the heart of New Forest National Park, Setley Ridge is a great base for daily explorations and picnics in the park.

If you’re looking for caravan accessories while touring around the U.K., look no further. From bike racks, towing mirrors, motorhome water heaters, domestic cool boxes and other products are all available from Motorhome Spares. All the spares are offered at an affordable rate.

  1. The West coast of Scotland and its islands have for decades, have had farms, often with land with beaches, that have wonderful panoramic views. These places you usually have Almost exclusively to yourself, as I believe the law allows a small number of mobile touring homes without any special permission. It has been more than twenty five years since I have done this myself, but the idea is still alive and well. Many of the places are simply spectacular.

  2. Another small point is on the motor home/caravan options. A touring caravan has many practical advantages. You don’t need a yearly expensive MOT, along with vehicle repair bills, insurance, road tax etc. when you arrive at a destination, it is more practical as you can simply unhitch the car and pop off for twenty minutes to a village shop, without having to pack back up and take your mobile home there. There is more practical useable space, especially if you also have an awning. It means that you do not have to own two vehicles, with one lying idle most of the time. There are less things to go wrong with a caravan, so long as you are exceptionally lucky and are not plagued by seam leaks. Many combine such a vacation with using their own small boat. Admittedly, it is easier towing a boat on a road trailer by the use of a camper van, rather than having it on a purpose designed roof rack of a car that is towing a caravan, but for some odd reason, I,m struggling to recall instances where I have seen the campervan/ boat trailer combination used for dingies.
