New Year, New Destinations: A World Travelers Bucket List

A safari in India

Every year seems to go by faster, and I think they each get a little better as they go. Many of us make new resolutions each year. Some of us actually look at those lists again, cross things off and get back on track when we fall off. Some of us forget about them all together, until New Years day comes around again. I’m fortunate to have crossed off India and a return trip to Thailand in early 2013, followed by trips to Jackson Hole and the TetonsYellowstone National Park, the Painted Hills of Oregon, and moving to Fort Collins, Colorado where I just finished my first semester of graduate school (phew!). But I’m not letting school slow me down. On Thursday, I’m bringing in the new year with a new destination – Colombia, South America. I’ll be riding on a motorcycle around the country, taking in the mountain views and beach panoramas, as well as local life in the country should everything work out as planned. I’ll be there for three weeks before I return for my second semester of school. Then, I hope to cross off a few more destinations in The States throughout the year: Steamboat Springs, Colorado; Nashville ,Tennessee; a road trip to Alaska; and perhaps a trip to San Francisco.

In honor of bringing in 2014 with dreams of travel, I’ve asked some fellow wanderers to look back at the countries they’ve crossed off in 2013, and what’s on their bucket lists for the coming year. Below, you’ll find their answers, along with links to their blogs and social media sites so you can follow their exciting journeys as well. I’ve asked everybody the following three questions:

1. Which country was your favorite to cross off the list?

2. What’s on the list for 2014?

3. Where will you go first, and when?

Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan

1. Which country was your favorite to cross off the list?
My two favourite destinations in 2013 are Azerbaijan and Iran! Azerbaijan for outstanding mountains, amazing people, great food and rich culture and traditions. Iran for superb hospitality and friendliness of people. Crazy adventure in Kurdistan and surprising diversity! Both of those destinations are not widely visited by tourist, that is why I went there ha ha ha. I love the genuine sense of adventure and exploration! And let’s be honest it sounds cool to say, I just got back from Iran ha ha ha Just kidding!
2) What’s on your bucket list for 2014?
It is a very very tough choice, but as well two countries are on my mind for a while already! Pakistan for the mountains and people and Madagascar for diving with blue whales.
3) Where will you go first, and when?
The problem with me is that I never schedule much ahead so except January (France and Switzerland for skiing, Istanbul for birthday party) I do not have precise plans!
